Welty Environmental Center

Our mission is to provide leadership in environmental and ecological education to students, teachers and individuals of all ages so that the residents of this region can make informed decisions leading to the respect for and the enjoyment, preservation and sustainable use of our natural resources.

Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.

School and Group Programs
Outdoor and classroom programs are available for students in preschool through 8th grade. Choose from a variety of topics such as food chains, habitats, and birds. Or request a session that fits your needs. More about school programs...
Busing Grant Available!
Genencor International is offering financial assistance to teachers who have never been to the Welty Center. The financial assistance will help cover busing costs to/from the Welty Environmental Center. Call 608-361-1377 or email info@weltycenter.org for more information on this excellent opportunity!

Adopt a Class Program
Call the Welty Environmental Center to provide a gift of environmental education for a child or teacher that benefits the whole class! Sponsor an in-class presentation from the Welty Environmental Center. The one hour program costs $60 for schools within 25 miles of the center, and $75 for schools that are further than 25 miles from the center. Topics can include anything from birds to frogs to geology. The topic and scheduling will be worked out with the person sponsoring the program and the classroom teacher. A minimum of two weeks notice is required for scheduling purposes. The student or teacher for whom the program is sponsored will be honored with a certificate at the time of the presentation.
Call 608-361-1377 or email info@weltycenter.org for more information, or to sponsor a program.

Scholarships Available
Do you know of a school or scout group that would like to have a hands-on environmental education experience, but is lacking the funds? Thanks to generous grants from the Kiwanis and Ecolab organizations the Welty Environmental Center is able to offer programs from reduced prices to free of charge.
Scout programs are offered for both Boy and Girl Scouts of America. These programs may happen either at your meeting site, or at an outdoor location, depending on the badge requested.
The Welty Wagon brings environmental education to your school or group. There are up to ten hands-on activity stations offered. The program generally runs 90 minutes to two hours. Volunteers from your site are required due to the amount of activities offered.
Scout programs start at $5 per scout (no cost for adult chaperones), and the Welty Wagon charge is $250. Please contact the Welty Environmental Center at info@weltycenter.org or 608-361-1377 for more information and a scholarship form.
Thank you again to Kiwanis and Ecolab for your generous donations!
Give the Gift of Environmental Education
Do you have people on your gift list who already have almost everything they need and want? Are they interested in the environment? In natural history? In outdoor education? In minimal consumerism? In connecting children with nature? With an alternative gift donation, Welty Environmental Center will send an attractive gift card, or several cards if you are gifting several people. More information. Alternative gift form.
