Information for Teachers

Programs for Students

The Welty Environmental Center offers programs for preschool through grade 8. Teachers may arrange field trips to the Center at Beckman Mill County Park, presentations at the school, or both. Programs are interdisciplinary and focus on environmental topics. See the Environmental Programs for School Year 2008-2009.

Program fees are:
Full Day - $5.00 per student. No fee for teachers or chaperones. $60.00 minimum fee.
Half-Day - $3.00 per student. No fee for teachers or chaperones. $36.00 minimum fee.
Scout programs - $3.00 per child. $36.00 minimum fee.

For preschool through grade 2, a 1 to 6 adult/student ratio is required. For grades 3 through 8, a 1 to 8 adult/student ratio is required.

Schools and teachers in Rock County may apply for funding from a Rock County Conservationists environmental education grant.

Watch for future workshops. WEC regularly schedules workshops for

  • Project WET - water resources education
  • Project Learning Tree - environmental education for preschool through grade 12
  • Project WILD - wildlife education
