How You Can Help

Volunteer opportunities  |   Service projects  |   WEC wish list

Volunteers are needed for

  • publicity/marketing assistance school programs and special programs educational displays maintenance around the Center (weeding, trimming, planting) weekly cleaning inside the center, trail maintenance, odd jobs
  • 2010 volunteer opportunities

Possible service projects

  • tree/plant identification signs
  • butterfly garden
  • trail extension into North end of park
  • extension of prairie patch
  • educational display
  • invasive species control
If you would enjoy helping the Welty Environmental Center with any projects, you may fill out a Volunteer Interest Survey Form (see form instructions). (If the survey form does not download, you may print, fill in, and mail a basic Volunteer Application Form.) Contact the WEC at 608-361-1377.

WEC wish list
While you are doing any winter or spring cleaning, please keep the Welty Environmental Center in mind. The following items would be helpful to continue to provide educational and fun environmental programming to people of all ages:

  • Basic office supplies (a stapler and file folders especially)
  • Plastic sheets for a heat laminator
  • Small nets for pond study
  • Small magnifying glasses
  • Compasses (directional)
  • Fishing poles, line, lures and hooks
  • Scrapbooks and scrapbooking supplies
  • Taxidermy mounts and animal pelts
If you are planning to have a garage sale this spring please consider donating some or all of your profits to the Welty Environmental Center. What a great way to reuse and support environmental education in the region! The Welty Environmental Center can provide you with a receipt for your tax deductible donations. Thank you very much!!
